PROUDLY OPERATED BY MILITARY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT VETERANS
Hiring the best security service to protect your business or residential property is one of the most important decisions that you can make as an owner or manager. You always want to choose the team that is going to be focused on protecting you, and your property, by doing more than the bare minimum. You want a security company that is going to provide you a layered security solution that can effectively and efficiently respond to calls for service, and provide meaningful protection to you, your visitors, residents, and guests.
Call Prominence Security today. We are one of the leading security guard companies in Baltimore, Baltimore County, and the Northern Maryland area.
We are dedicated to providing an effective security presence to our clients. All too often, many companies provide only a warm body in a uniform, which does nothing but give you a professional 911 caller. We are pioneering the next level of professional, private security services. While our officers are not police officers, they are trained in many areas so that they can respond effectively to more situations than the average security officer.
We recognize that there are two diametrically opposite and equally horrific stereotypes in security. Security guardsare either portrayed as extremely overzealous "wannabes," or incompetent personnel who simply stand and watch in emergency situations. These are both huge liabilities to you as a property manager.
Prominence delivers a professional, competent security team who know the limits of their training, authority, and jurisdiction, but are fully able to work within those limits to provide actual protection, rather than deterrence only. After all, some criminals will not simply be deterred by a person walking around!
A sizeable amount of security guards companies are owned by retired police officers - though, all too often, that does not translate into better officers. For Prominence, it does. Our Leadership Team are all retired and former law enforcement officers, who work together to bring their training at the local, state, and federal levels to our security officers.
Training is paramount at Prominence - better trained officers allows us to handle more situations, and better serve our clients.
Prominence security can deploy unarmed security personnel anywhere in Baltimore, or Baltimore county. Unarmed security officers have the same legal authority as armed security officers, without carrying a sidearm.
Despite not being armed, our unarmed security officers are still properly equipped with their non-lethal force options, so that they can still respond effectively to situations that occur on your property. By patrolling professionally and effectively, they provide deterrence, while also maintaining an effective response component.
Unarmed security guards can patrol on foot, they can be assigned to stationary or static posts, or can patrol in vehicles, depending on the needs of your property. Unarmed officers form the backbone of the security profession, and can work in residential areas, commercial buildings, office buildings, hospitals, and more.
Armed security guards have the ability to respond to violent crimes and gun related incidents. In Baltimore, this is a very realistic concern, and certain areas, due to that propensity, are best staffed with armed officers, or a mix of armed and unarmed personnel.
Armed officers require significant investment in training and supervision. This is part of the Prominence Promise. We provide job training and continual professional development to both our armed and unarmed officers, so that they can de-escalate situations, recognize potential threats, and effectively respond in emergencies.
When a building's fire alarm goes down for maintenance or after an incident, the Fire Marshal's Office requires that a live person conduct a fire watch at regular intervals. This is a person literally taking the place of the fire alarm, until the system is returned to full operation. Depending on the kind of building, one officer can be sufficient. However, occupied residential buildings will often require a larger number, depending on the regulations set forth by the fire marshal.
For a residential apartment building, it is not uncommon for the Fire Marshal's Office to require one officer for every two occupied floors of the building. So, for example, if your building is 10 stories high, you may need five officers on until the firewatch is cleared.
Firewatch officers perform routine patrols, and are actively looking for fire and safety hazards and risks. In the event they fire, the officers will attempt to contain it as best possible, while simultaneously notifying residents and effecting the evacuation, while waiting for the arrival of Fire Department personnel.
Security patrol (what we call our Patrol Division) is designed to give property owners and managers peace of mind when a property is not actively in use, or after hours. Our officers check each of our Patrol Division clients' properties multiple times throughout the shift, on a randomized basis, so that no one can watch and learn our schedule.
Each Patrol visit, or "hit," comprises an officer patrolling the entirety of the property, inside and out, as well as all attached parking areas. The officer will check all doors and windows for vandalism and also look for vagrants and other safety issues. The officer will then attend to each of those issues, as necessary. That may require calling an additional Patrol Division resources, or liaising with the City Police department.
Patrol Division officers can also act as your key holder after hours. In the event of an alarm activation, your alarm company can dispatch our units, so you don't have to get out of bed unless it's a serious incident.
Some properties of a size that do not justify the deployment of a single officer "in site," choose the Patrol Division, even during high traffic hours, so that there is still a security presence at the property. This provides considerable deterrence, as no one can predict when the officer will arrive, and the client saves money by not having to pay for a full-shift.
Our Patrol Division officers are professionally uniformed, and drive marked department vehicles. Most Patrol Officers are armed, and all are outfitted with other equipment to effectively respond to and mitigate any security situation they encounter.
Warehouses, shipping centers, transloading facilities, and more require specially trained security personnel who can check in trucks, and prevent vandalism and theft, as well as handle emergency situations on the property. Prominence's Industrial Division officers are trained to be hyper aware of these issues, and also how to always maintain safety in ever-changing circumstances.
A concierge is often the first person that a resident, guest, or visitor sees when they come onto your property, and the concierge is usually manning the front desk, monitoring CCTV footage as well as checking in everyone and sometimes providing package service. Concierges are part of a layered security solution, but are not themselves (usually) security officers.
Concierge personnel, due to their high public profile, need to be friendly and inviting, but also hypervigilant of situations that require a more thorough security response. We can provide concierges as part of our over security deployment, either independently, or as part of a larger security package that includes uniformed officers.
